I see some discussions in some LinkedIn groups trying to discover the difference between business analysis guy and product owner. According to best practices they are totally different.

First, business analysis activities start before product back log being in place. Including defining the product and facilitating product roadmap development.

Product owner may have assigned after and or during the project charter to represent the customer or end user to guide agile team in the context of the incremental value delivery, and provide product development feedback and or ensure customer involvement.

Business analysis efforts will facilitate product requirement management to enhance project success using some skills like requirement elicitation, analysis tracking, and so. Producing requirement packages are the key deliverable from business analysis activities.

I can say, product backlog is type of requirement packages. This package should be managed by product owner with business analysis support.

Moreover, you can imagine the DoD within certain iteration to realize the difference between the two roles.
